Here are some quick tips to save you time and money when an emergency happens.  If these don't work, we are always available to help...


No Heat!  My furnace is Not Working!!
  1. Verify power is on to unit (Check the breakers).  If breaker is tripped try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Make sure gas is on to unit.  The handle should be parallel to the gas line.  If it is perpendicular, the valve is turned off.  
  3. Make sure thermostat is properly set to a call for heat.  Most programmable thermostats have a switch indicating Heat, Off, and Cool.  Make sure the switch is set to Heat.

My Air Conditioner is not Cooling!  
  1. Verify power is on to both indoor and outdoor units (Check the breakers).  If breaker is tripped, try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Check filters, change if dirty. Filters should be changed every 3 months or sooner as needed.
  3. Check that vent dampers are open.  Your vents have dampers that keep the air from flowing.  Make sure these are open so the air will come through.
  4. Make sure thermostat is properly set to a call for cooling.  Most programmable thermostats have a switch indicating Heat, Off, and Cool.  Make sure the switch is set to Cool.

There is No Air coming from my vents!
  1. Verify power is on to unit (Check the breakers).  If breaker is tripped try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Verify that the fan inside furnace is running.  You should be able to hear a motor humming in the furnace.
  3. Check filters, change if dirty. Filters should be changed every 3 months or sooner as needed.
  4. Check that vents are open in each room.

My Refrigerator is not cooling!
  1. Verify power is on to unit. If breaker is tripped, try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Check that the back area is not blocked. There should be at least a couple of inches between the unit and the wall, this allows for sufficient airflow.
  3. Verify the compressor, coil and fan (located in the back/ bottom of unit) is not blocked by dirt and debris. Clean compartment with vacuum. (Unplug unit while cleaning)
  4. Verify air vent inside freezer and refrigerator is not being blocked by ice or food products.

My Gas Range is not Heating!
  1. Verify gas in on and being supplied to unit
  2. Verify power is on. Most gas ranges use a 120 volt power to create a spark ignition or glow bar to ignite the gas.

My Electric Range is not Heating!
  1. Verify power is on to unit. If breaker is tripped, try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Check heating elements for cracks. If you find a crack then the element needs to be replaced.

My Washer does not fill with water or drain completely
  1. Verify power is on to unit. If breaker is tripped, try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Check that water valves are on and supplying water.
  3. Make sure door is closed securely. Unit will not engage otherwise.
  4. Check drain hose is not plugged or that drain is not plugged.

My Dryer does not run or completely dry clothes.
  1. Verify power is on to unit. If breaker is tripped, try resetting only once, if breaker trips again then there is a bigger issue that needs to be identified by a qualified technician.
  2. Make sure filter screen is clean.
  3. Check exhaust vent is free from all debris or blockage both inside at the unit and outside the house.
  4. Do not overload unit, this could cause partial drying.
